oldtimefriend: Errol Flynn (via Nerd Boyfriend)
NB continues to offer up the good stuff! I don’t know if it’s because Pippi Longstocking’s father was a sea captain, or because my own father worked on cargo ships in his youth, but I’ve always had a deep admiration for seafarers.

How is information about art communicated? It is not mediated simply through guided tours, catalogues, wall captions, hosts, audio guides and so on. The aspect of the museum the public encounters on an everyday basis is in fact permeated by educational activity. In other words: to whom does the museum address itself and how?

Moderna Museet was initially set up as […] a ‘musee visite’ dedicated to the cult of the object. But from the very beginning staff at Moderna Museet had also entertained quite difference ambitions, and they became increasingly aware that it was possible to show art and arrange various events that might not have been acceptable or even capable of implementation in other social environments… . It was simply a place that provided a measure of freedom, the kind of freedom Hulten wanted Moderna Museet to make available.
